Job Title: Baker
Job Summary: To assist/perform preparation of fresh quality baked goods to support the operations of the department.
Key Responsibilities:
FRESH QUALITY BAKED PRODUCTS
- Assists the senior baker in the preparation of breads, rolls, muffins, cookies, pies, cakes and other pastries, including icings and frostings, according to established recipes.
- Follows the proper techniques of mixing, kneading, shaping and slicing to provide quality breads.
- Uses ingredient quantities necessary to fill specific bakery orders under the guidance of the senior baker.
- Inspects product for quality during and after baking and make adjustments to processes as required.
- Prepares ingredients, supplies and equipments as required for daily operations.
- Assists the senior baker in regular checking of expiry dates of goods including baking ingredients to ensure freshness and quality of all baked products.
- Assists in receiving and inspection of prepared bakery goods from suppliers for quality and accuracy.
- Assists in production schedules to determine variety and quantity of goods to bake.
- Reports on bad orders and disposal to superiors.
- Endorses Return of bad orders to suppliers during pick-up.
CUSTOMER SERVICE
- Attends to customer queries, complaints or suggestions related to baked products.
- Bakes special made-to-order cakes or breads.
- Maintains kitchen sanitation and safety according to established guidelines.
STOCK MONITORING & REPLENISHMENT
- Works closely with the senior baker in monitoring sufficiency and inventory level of baking ingredients such as flour, shortening, sugar, baking powder, etc..
- Promptly requests for baking supplies and ingredients.
- Disposes bad order products according to standard procedures in disposal.
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education / Professional Experience
- Vocational training or at least 2 years college education.
- With at least 6 months experience in baking foods.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Ability to prepare and bake at least 1 to 2 recipes.
- Ability to work long hours in extreme temperatures.
